Evil Eye

Evil Eye
('Booree Nazar')

There seems to be an unwritten law. Talk of something good and it goes away, and talk of something bad and it happens. Maybe there is an explanation.

Our forefathers always told us to be aware of 'Booree Nazar' (meaning evil eye in Punjabi). We always laughed it off as old women's tales and superstition.
The world of science which deals with the physical world has not found any evidence of this phenomenon. So it is simply ignored or even mocked as superstition.

As an engineer, a  student of science it is even more difficult to accept such ideas. But what if? What if there is something in this matter like in many other matters, even though there was no known scientific  evidence our forefathers turned out to be right.

Professor Eddington the person who validated Albert Einstein's theories, commented that, "The more I study, the more I am convinced that, thoughts are like stones or flowers, after all it is all about energy".
We transmit energy to one another, some of it is spoken and some of them are gestures, but the vast majority are our thoughts. We transmit positive or negative energy, blessings and curses, joy and jealousy depending upon our disposition towards our target.

We always have good feelings towards people we love and like, and reserve our negativity for people we do not like.

Throughout history all traditional cultures believed in the prevalence of the 'evil eye', and evolved some practices to protect their loved ones, themselves and their property.  It could be an amulet, or a stone or a prominent defect , showing imperfection in the person or thing that they want to protect. The colour used is usually black

Many people who have used these things swear that it works. I can't comment on that. However my sister Mana Kaur works on a subject called [Soul Science](https://www.facebook.com/ManaSoulScience/) and has helped numerous people and written several books on the subject. In conversations with her I reconfirmed my thoughts and experiences on soul science and human energy fields.

What I discovered is that we all have an aura, which is an extension of our physical being . Its an energy field which extends beyond our body. It can be sensed but can be detected by special photography which can sense and capture the image of the energy which envelops every being.

The aura is weak in children, and they can be the recipient of much jealousy and negative influence. That is why in the earlier periods , the elders advised not to take the child out for a period of 40 days after birth and keep the child in the company of trusted family members and friends for at least a year or two.

When the child receives and gets enveloped by much negative energy they begin to sleep badly, lose appetite, fall ill more often, generally become cranky etc.

Over the ages several methods have been tried and all have some impact or the other. The weakest or worse is medication and the highest is energy management.

Let me explain. In medication the child is administered a drug that soothes the nerves. The problem exists but the child cannot sense it. Given time the child will emerge from the negativity by its own nature if no new negativity is impacting the child. The drugs have their own side effects which manifest themselves in the body and over time display the damage or side effects in later life.

The other method is to administer positive energy by various means. The child is taken to a holy place a place of worship. Here the collective and accumulated positive energy of numerous good spirits work to dispel the negative energy that surrounds the child, and this heals the child.

However not all places of worship have positive energy because many have become corrupted by evil and negative energy people which can cause more harm to the child.

A simple rule is where people offer services for money, and have associated and significant fund collection and management  then it ceases to be a place of worship and positive energy. It is a business centre and al businesses only want your money and at best give you something material but never anything spiritual.

Some parents hold the child, caress the body and soothe the forehead while praying. This helps tremendously because the individual is providing a concentrated form of positive energy. The words, sentences, tone, pronunciations of the prayers are not important, the important factor is the positivity in the prayer, the earnestness and the sincerity in the desired outcome.  This again throws positive energy around the child which helps to cope and usually overcome the negative energy.

A simple but most effective way is to use rock salt enclosed in the fist of the hand and wave it around the head, and the body several times while appealing to the universal energy to heal and bless the child and to take away  the negativity.

As again the God or Goddess, the deity, the religion, does not matter. The energy matters. A parent or a trusted member of the family is the best choice for conducting this exercise called 'Removing the Nazar'.

This is why earlier and even primitive societies had faith healers. Unfortunately as all institutional religion imposed their intolerant and their own mumbo jumbo such great healers began to die out. All intolerant religions,  in their blind zeal worked to destroy millennia of spiritual wisdom with their standard 'Formula 44' solutions. Healers were tortured, drowned, driven out from society, burnt at the stake as witches, etc.

Fortunately genuine faith healing still exists to a large extent in India and many parts of Asia, Aborigine groups, native Americans in North and South America, the original natives of Africa not yet converted to modern religion..

Unfortunately Indian healing as practised originally by followers of the Sanatan Dharma, mistakenly known as Hindus have been usurped by greedy, self serving people conferring upon themselves the rights, privileges and authority by birth rather than by capabilities and deeds.

India too has lost much of this ancient but relevant power. But there is hope for its revival because the Indian mindset as enshrined in what is now known as Hinduism facilitates this method of meditative healing. It is widely practised without understanding or invoking the spirit by the vast majority of Indians. However there are still many people who believe in it and practise it with mind , body and spirit and have achieved 'miracles'.

Adults are nothing more than overgrown children, and the same practice and rules applies to them as applicable to children.
The difference is that their aura is usually much much stronger than those of children.

The aura is weakened or even damaged by consumption of drugs, alcohol, and in the case of physical body or or brain injury. In the case of women aura is also weakened  during menstruation. Thus when weakened the individual becomes more easily prone to be overpowered by negative energy.
